Fastnet Lighthouse, completed in 1904, is located on Fastnet Rock off the southwest coast of Ireland. Known as “Ireland’s Teardrop,” it was the last glimpse of home for many Irish emigrants sailing to North America. This iconic tower, the tallest and widest rock lighthouse in both Ireland and Great Britain, continues to provide vital guidance for ships navigating the often treacherous waters around Cape Clear. Fully automated since 1989, Fastnet’s imposing structure is a symbol of resilience.
