Old Head of Kinsale
Old Head of Kinsale Lighthouse has stood since 1854 on one of Ireland’s most iconic headlands. Situated at the nearest point to where the RMS Lusitania was sunk in 1915, the lighthouse has played a significant role in maritime safety along the Atlantic coast. Its striking black-and-white bands, added in 1930, ensure it remains visible even from a distance. The lighthouse has been fully automated since 1987, continuing its vigilant watch over the seas.
