Rising from the remote shores of Loggerhead Key, Loggerhead Lighthouse is a striking 150-foot (46-meter) iron tower that has guided mariners through the treacherous waters of the Dry Tortugas since 1858. Located deep within the Gulf of Mexico, this lighthouse is said to be farther from the mainland than any other light in the world, standing in complete isolation on an uninhabited tropical island.
For over a century, it played a crucial role in safeguarding ships navigating the Florida Straits, an area notorious for its reefs and unpredictable currents. Though now decommissioned, Loggerhead Lighthouse remains a silent sentinel of one of the most remote and awe-inspiring locations in the United States.
