Crookhaven
Crookhaven Lighthouse, built in 1843, stands on the southwest coast of County Cork, guarding the entrance to Crookhaven Harbour. The lighthouse was an essential guide for ships traveling along the busy Atlantic shipping routes. Its location near Mizen Head makes it part of one of Ireland’s most scenic coastal areas.
The granite blocks for building the Fastnet were stored here prior to be shipped out to the rock for construction of the tower, 1898 to 1904.
