Boston Light
Boston Light, perched on Little Brewster Island in Boston Harbor, holds the distinction of being the first lighthouse established in North America. The original tower was first lit in 1716, though the current structure dates back to 1783, following its destruction during the American Revolution.
This historic beacon is also notable for being the last lighthouse in the United States to retain an official keeper, even as others have become fully automated. For over three centuries, it has guided ships safely through Boston Harbor, standing as a symbol of New England’s rich maritime history.
Boston Light remains one of the most iconic and enduring landmarks on the American coast.
