Stage Harbor Light

Stage Harbor Light

Stage Harbor Light, located on the shores of Chatham on Cape Cod, has been guiding sailors safely through the treacherous waters of Nantucket Sound since it was first lit in 1880. Positioned on a small shoal off the tip of Cape Cod, the lighthouse’s strategic location helps mariners navigate the shifting sands and strong currents that characterize this part of the coast. Its simple yet enduring design has made it a standout feature in the region’s maritime landscape.

The original light was critical in marking a staging area for vessels waiting to round Monomoy Point and Pollock Rip Channel during periods of low visibility, such as fog. Known as Stage Harbor, the area provided deep water anchorage south of Harding’s Beach where ships could safely wait before continuing their journey. This vital role in helping vessels navigate Cape Cod’s challenging waters remains an important part of the lighthouse’s legacy, symbolizing the region’s rich maritime history.

Sizing

Available in 2 sizes mounted only or framed measuring:

- 15cm x 20cm (8″ x 6″) | image size 10cm x 15cm (4″ x 6″)

The art print comes mounted in a heavy board with backing.

The mounted print comes wrapped in a cellophane bag for extra protection and include their own story and some fun facts on an insert.

All mounted prints are also available in a white solid wood frame. The frame measures 20mm deep and has a 20mm wide border. Our frames are made locally here in Ireland and constructed out of hardwood and painted white.

Material

Printed with archival pigment ink on 290gr art paper with a slightly textured silk finish.

Pigment inks are designed to be stable over long periods of time, allowing prints to be displayed (under proper conditions) for many decades.

All mounts and backing boards are lignin-free, alkaline-sized, pH neutral and are calcium carbonate buffered to enhance their useful lifespan by minimising the effect of atmospheric pollutants.

Care instructions

Avoid hanging in direct sunlight as this may cause the colours to fade and affect the paper.
