Achillbeg lighthouse, established in 1965, stands on the island of Achillbeg off the coast of County Mayo. This lighthouse was built to assist ships navigating the waters around Achill Island and Clare Island. Its remote location makes it a critical navigational aid in the area, and its surrounding landscapes offer visitors stunning views of the rugged west coast of Ireland. In an odd twist, the island was evacuated in 1965, the same year the lighthouse was built.
