Loop Head
Built in 1854, Loop Head Lighthouse sits at the western tip of Loop Head Peninsula, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Shannon Estuary. This lighthouse has been central to navigation along Ireland’s western coast for centuries. Notably, it was one of the locations used during World War II to broadcast "Eire" signs, which served as signals for passing planes.
