Wicklow New
Wicklow Head’s new lighthouse, built in 1818, replaced the earlier structure that was damaged by lightning. This distinctive white tower overlooks the Irish Sea, guiding ships along the east coast of Ireland. Automated in 1994, it is built on a headland near the southeast edge, approximately 3 km (2 mi) from the centre, of the town of Wicklow past the ruins of Maurice Fitzgerald's Anglo-Norman Blackcastle.
