Nestled along the rugged coastline of California, Pigeon Point Lighthouse stands as one of the tallest on the West Coast, towering at 115 feet (35 meters). Completed in 1872, it was named after the “Carrier Pigeon,” a clipper ship that tragically wrecked offshore in 1853. While the crew was rescued, the ship was lost, and the area was subsequently named Pigeon Point in memory of the incident.

Since its completion, this historic lighthouse has served as a vital navigational aid for mariners, helping ships safely navigate the treacherous waters south of San Francisco. Its iconic structure has weathered the challenging coastal conditions for nearly 150 years and remains one of the most recognizable landmarks along California’s coastline, symbolizing both the state’s maritime history and its resilience.

- For the 30 x 30cm print: the frame measures 30mm deep with a 30mm wide border

Our frames are made locally here in Ireland and constructed out of hardwood and painted white.

Printed with archival pigment ink on 290gr art paper with a slightly textured silk finish.

Pigment inks are designed to be stable over long periods of time, allowing prints to be displayed (under proper conditions) for many decades.

All mounts and backing boards are lignin-free, alkaline-sized, pH neutral and are calcium carbonate buffered to enhance their useful lifespan by minimising the effect of atmospheric pollutants.

Avoid hanging in direct sunlight as this may cause the colours to fade and affect the paper.
