Perched on a submerged rock in Brittany’s Iroise Sea, Phare du Four is one of the region’s most exposed lighthouses, bravely withstanding the Atlantic’s relentless waves. Completed between 1869 and 1874, this 28-meter granite tower warns ships of the hazardous Chenal du Four, a vital sea lane along the Breton coast. Its striking black lantern stands out against the grey stone, a symbol of resilience in rough waters.
Automated since 1993, the lighthouse continues to guide mariners through one of France’s most challenging stretches of sea. This artwork captures the steadfast character and determination of the Phare du Four, celebrating the engineering and courage behind its creation.
