Galley Head
Galley Head Lighthouse, completed in 1875 and lit in 1878, sits at the southern end of Dundeady Island. Known for once having the world’s most powerful light, it was visible up to 30 km away. The lighthouse’s unusual landward arc of light is rumored to have been added at the request of the Sultan of Turkey, who wished to see it from Castle Freke nearby.
