Slyne Head
Slyne Head Lighthouse, built in 1836, is situated on the westerly islands off the Galway coast. It was originally one of two lighthouses, with the West tower still active today. Painted black, Slyne Head is one of just two black lighthouses in Ireland, and its location offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic. Automated since 1990, it remains a cherished part of Galway’s maritime history.
