Mizen Head
Mizen Head Lighthouse, perched on Cloghnane Island at one of Ireland’s most southwestern points, was established in 1909 as a fog signal station. The lighthouse was added in 1959, and the iconic Mizen Head bridge, built to provide access, was replaced in 2010. Fully automated since 1993, Mizen Head offers visitors dramatic views and is famed for its wild, rugged landscape, a testament to the enduring power of nature.
